The Breeders’ Cup World Championship races start tomorrow (5th) at Churchill Downs in America. ATR are covering all races on the 5th and 6th. Quite a few hopefuls are crossing the pond, some more hopeful than others. On Friday the 5th, Midday from the Henry Cecil stable is a warm favourite to repeat her success of last year for Khalid Abdulla in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
On Saturday (6th), Goldikova from France also goes for a repeat win in the Breeders’ Cup Mile. Paco Boy from the Richard Hannon yard will be ridden by Ryan Moore as Richard Hughes is remaining on these shores in an attempt to win the Flat Jockeys Championship. Paco Boy could make Goldikova pull out all the stops.
Ryan Moore rides Workforce for Khalid Abdulla in the Breeders’ Cup Turf over 1 mile 4 furlongs. I am sure his trainer, Sir Michael Stoute, will not run Workforce unless he is happy with him. The prize money is colossal but this is topped by the Breeders’ Cup Classic which is the final race of the Meeting. Here that wonderful mare Zenyatta (pictured) also goes for a repeat win. This race starts at 10.45 pm our time. It is going to be a long night.
