The first two flat classics for the three year olds, the 2000 and 1000 Guineas, will be run at Newmarket over the straight mile on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. This years sponsors are Qipco and the races are each worth £350,000.00. Frankel (pictured) has shown his well being at Newbury already and it would be a major shock if he were beaten in the 2000 Guineas.
The 1000 Guineas on Sunday looks a very open affair. The antepost favourite, Moonlight Cloud, comes over from France and has shown her well being already this season. Of the home brigade Hooray, Havant, Memory and Make A Dance all look to have chances. Hooray was top filly last year and it was a case of if she would even turn up for this race. There seems to have been a change of heart by her trainer , Sir Mark Prescott, who thought she would not stay a mile. If she stays the mile she is an attractive price. Make A Dance has been well backed in the antepost market and might make it a double Guineas success for her owner Khalid Abdulla who looks destined to be top owner again this season with the splendid horses he has at his disposal. Make A Dance, Havant and Hooray all won their respective races over the Rowley Mile course last October. It promises to be an exciting and informative race for the rest of the Flat season.
