The centre piece for Day 2 of the Aintree Grand National Meeting is the John Smith’s Melling Chase worth £175,000.00 and run over 2 miles 4 furlongs. A very select field of 8 runners go to post including Finians Rainbow who was a fortunate winner of the Queen Mother Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. Wishful Thinking (pictured) took a spectacular fall in the Champion Chase but if he was back to his best form of last season he could run a big race here. He is a course and distance winner. Poquelin was withdrawn at the start of the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham so comes here a fresh horse. He looks the eachway value. Albertas Run was runner-up to Riverside Theatre at Cheltenham but had a hard race there.
