Full marks to Newmarket racecourses for continuing to give concessions on all admission prices to all enclosures for all their meetings including the July 3 Day Festival which starts on Thursday 12th with the Princess of Wales’s Goldsmith Stakes run over 1 mile 4 furlongs as the main race. Red Cadeaux is favourite for this and should take all the beating.
The main race on Friday is the Etihad Airways Falmouth Stakes for fillies and mares run over 1 mile. On paper this promises to be an exciting race with the crack French filly, Golden Lilac, coming across from the Andre Fabre yard. She looks a worthy favourite for this.
The “big” one of the three days is the Darley July Cup run over 6 furlongs on Saturday. This looks a very open race with last years runner-up, Bated Breath, the antepost favourite with the bookies. There was little between Bated Breath and Hoof It when they were beaten by Dream Ahead in the Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock last season. Hoof It (pictured) makes more appeal at the longer odds.
